Bezel Engagement Rings

Modern, secure, and beautifully clean.

The bezel is the most modern of the classic settings — and the most practical. Instead of prongs, a smooth rim of metal wraps around the edge of the diamond, holding it flush and protected. The look is clean, contemporary and architectural, and the security is unmatched.

What is a bezel setting?

In a bezel setting, a thin band of metal surrounds the perimeter of the centre stone — fully (a full bezel) or partially (a half bezel) — encircling and protecting it. Because no prongs sit above the stone, the surface is smooth and the diamond is shielded on every edge.

Why people choose a bezel

  • The most secure setting. The metal rim protects the diamond's edges and girdle from knocks.
  • Snag-free. No prongs means nothing catches on clothing, hair or gloves — ideal for active hands and healthcare, hospitality and hands-on work.
  • Modern look. Clean lines and a flush profile feel current and minimal.
  • Low maintenance. Fewer crevices to clean, and a stone that's well protected.

Bezel vs. prong

  Bezel Prong
Security Highest — full edge protection Very good, but edges more exposed
Light into the stone Slightly less from the sides Maximum — open setting
Look Modern, smooth, minimal Classic, open, sparkling
Snag risk None Low

Does a bezel reduce sparkle?

A little less light enters from the sides than in an open prong setting — but with an ideal-cut diamond, the brilliance is still excellent, and a well-made bezel can even be designed to let light in from below. With a Triple Excellent stone cut to ideal proportions, the trade-off is minimal.

A clean, modern setting leaves nowhere for a mediocre stone to hide.

Bezel engagement ring FAQs

What is a bezel set engagement ring?

A bezel set engagement ring holds the diamond inside a smooth rim of metal that wraps around its edge, instead of prongs. The result is a clean, modern, flush look and the most secure way to protect the stone.

Are bezel settings more secure than prongs?

Yes. The continuous metal rim protects the diamond’s edges and girdle on every side and has no prongs to catch or bend, making the bezel the most secure of the common settings and ideal for active lifestyles.

Do bezel settings make diamonds look smaller?

A full bezel can make a stone look marginally smaller because the rim covers the very edge, but choosing a thin rim or a half bezel minimises this, and the protection and modern look are why many people prefer it.

Is a bezel good for an active lifestyle?

Very. With no prongs to snag and full edge protection, a bezel is the go-to setting for people with hands-on jobs or active hobbies who want a low-maintenance, knock-resistant ring.
