Luxury that respects
the planet.
We did not choose lab-grown diamonds because it was the responsible thing to say. We chose them because after three decades in this industry, we believe it is the better choice on every dimension that matters.
The numbers speak for themselves
Same diamond. Different origin.
Better outcome.
Chemically, Physically, Optically Identical
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They share the exact same chemical composition (pure carbon), the same crystal structure, the same hardness (10/10 on the Mohs scale), and the same optical properties as mined diamonds. They are graded by the same gemological institutes using the same criteria.
How They Are Made
Lab-grown diamonds are created using two primary methods: Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) and High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT). Both replicate the natural conditions under which diamonds form, producing stones that are indistinguishable from mined diamonds by any gemological test.
Why MONTARE Chose Lab-Grown Exclusively
After more than 30 years in the diamond industry, we made a deliberate decision to work exclusively with lab-grown diamonds. The quality is identical. The environmental impact is dramatically lower. The supply chain is transparent and traceable. There is no trade-off.
Pure Carbon
Identical chemical composition to mined diamonds. Same element, same structure, same hardness.
IGI Certified
Every MONTARE diamond is independently certified by the International Gemological Institute using the same grading standards applied to mined stones.
Indistinguishable
No gemological test can differentiate a lab-grown diamond from a mined diamond. The origin is different. The diamond is not.
Traceable Origin
Every stone has a clear, documented origin. No supply chain ambiguity, no regions of concern, no question about where your diamond came from.
Mining vs. Lab-Grown
Every MONTARE diamond represents a choice — beauty without ecological sacrifice.
A clear conscience in every stone
From laboratory to workshop to your hand. Every step is transparent, traceable, and responsible.
No Conflict Minerals
Lab-grown diamonds have no supply chain ambiguity. The origin is the laboratory. There are no regions where diamond revenue funds armed conflict, no question about which hands the stone passed through.
Traceable Supply Chain
When a client asks where their diamond came from, we can answer completely. Every stone is tracked from creation to certification to setting. Full transparency at every stage.
Canadian Workshop
Every MONTARE ring is crafted in our Greater Toronto Area workshop by skilled local artisans. Local manufacturing means local employment, Canadian labour standards, and reduced shipping emissions.
Fair Labour Practices
Our workshop operates under Canadian labour law with fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for every person involved in the creation of your ring. Luxury should never come at someone else's expense.
Four pillars of responsibility
Lab-Grown Only
No mined diamonds, ever. Every stone in the MONTARE collection is created in a controlled laboratory environment.
Local Manufacturing
GTA workshop, supporting Canadian craft. Local production reduces shipping emissions and supports the community we call home.
Minimal Waste
Precision manufacturing reduces material waste. All precious metal offcuts are reclaimed and recycled back into the production cycle.
Recyclable Packaging
Eco-conscious from workshop to doorstep. Our packaging is designed to be beautiful and sustainable, using recyclable and responsibly sourced materials.
An ongoing commitment
Sustainability is not a destination. It is a direction. We are committed to continuously reducing our environmental impact at every stage of our operations.
This means ongoing investment in renewable energy for our workshop, continuous improvement in packaging sustainability, and a commitment to transparency about our progress. We measure, we report, and we improve.
The jewellery industry has a long way to go. We intend to lead by example, proving that luxury and responsibility are not competing values but complementary ones.
