We built jewellery for others for three decades. MONTARE exists because we decided it was time to build under our own name — with a standard we refused to lower.
We watched something that bothered us deeply.
For three decades, we worked behind the scenes of the fine jewellery industry. We manufactured for other brands. We cut, set, polished, and delivered thousands of pieces that carried someone else's name.
And through all of it, we watched clients walk into jewellery stores with real budgets and real emotion — buying a ring for the most significant moment of their lives — and walk out with stones that did not deserve the occasion. Inferior clarity. Compromised colour. Diamonds selected not for the client, but for the margin.
We knew what those stones were worth because we knew what they cost. We saw the gap between what the client was paying and what the client was receiving. And that gap kept growing.
Nobody was telling clients the truth. The industry had quietly agreed on a comfortable fiction: that a wide grading range was acceptable, that the client did not need to know the difference.
That fiction was convenient for everyone in the supply chain. It was profitable. It was standard. And it was something we could no longer participate in without question.
Three decades. One decision.
The decision was simple, even if following through on it was not. We would only sell diamonds graded VVS1 or VVS2 in clarity, D or E in colour, with Triple Excellent cut, polish, and symmetry. Every stone would meet ideal length-to-width ratios, ideal table and depth percentages, and carry a minimum weight of three carats.
Not because those specifications make for good marketing. Because after thirty years of handling diamonds daily, this is where the line sits between exceptional and everything else.
We did not set a standard to attract clients. We set a standard because we could no longer build without one.
Below VVS, clarity begins to compromise light performance in ways that matter. Below D and E, warmth enters the stone in ways that are visible to anyone who has seen a truly colourless diamond. Below Triple Excellent, light return falls off. These are not opinions. They are the conclusions of thirty years of daily work.
MONTARE was built on that line. Not above it for vanity. Not below it for margin. Precisely where quality lives.
We removed everything that shouldn't be there.
Once the standard was set, the next question was how to deliver it. The traditional jewellery model adds layers between the maker and the client. Manufacturers sell to wholesalers, who sell to retailers, who sell to you. Each layer adds margin. None of them add quality.
We removed the middlemen. We removed the retail markup. We removed the showroom pressure and the commissioned sales floor. We removed the incentive to upsell, to push a stone that was better for the business rather than the client.
What remained was the craft, the standard, and a direct conversation with the client.
No layers. No intermediaries. No one between the people who make the piece and the person who wears it. A manufacturer who decided the client deserved to deal directly with the people who actually make the piece. At a price that reflects what it costs to build something extraordinary — not what the market will bear after four layers of margin have been added.
That is MONTARE.
Six pillars.
Zero exceptions.
Every MONTARE diamond must meet the following criteria without exception. These are not flexible targets. They are the floor.
VVS1 and VVS2 only. Inclusions nearly impossible to detect even under 10x magnification. The clarity tier where light performance is genuinely flawless.
The two highest colour grades. Colourless to the most trained eye. Faces up perfectly white in any metal, under any light.
Excellent in cut, polish, and symmetry. The threshold where light performance reaches its peak and brilliance is maximised.
Every shape has a proportion range where it looks its best. We select only stones that fall within ideal length-to-width ratios.
Table and depth directly affect light return. Outside the ideal range, a diamond leaks light. We only accept stones within the optimal window.
The size at which our standard produces a visually distinct result. Where presence matches quality and the difference is unmistakable.
The industry built its model
on range.
Offer every clarity. Offer every colour. Offer every cut grade. Let the client choose from a spectrum so wide that the word "quality" loses meaning. In that model, the retailer decides what the client sees, and the client trusts the retailer to guide them honestly.
MONTARE's structure is fundamentally different. We are not a retailer selecting from someone else's inventory. We are the manufacturer. We set the standard before the conversation begins. The client who buys from MONTARE knows exactly what they are getting before a single word is exchanged.
There is no upsell. There is no range. There is one standard, and it is the one we would hold ourselves to if we were buying the ring for someone we love.
