Does the new ring have to cost more than my original?◆
Yes — your new ring must step up in value from your original; most clients move up in carat. The value of your original setting comes off the price. There's no maximum, and no upgrade premium.
What credit do I receive?◆

Can I upgrade more than once?◆
Absolutely. Every Montare setting carries its own lifetime credit. Trade up, trade up again, pass one to a family member — the credit stays with the ring.
What condition does the original have to be in?◆
It needs to be intact — we accept normal wear (scratches, patina, prong wear). We can't accept rings missing stones or with structural damage beyond reasonable repair. If you're unsure, send a photo first.
Can I upgrade a ring I received as a gift?◆
Yes. The credit follows the ring, not the original purchaser. As long as it's a Montare ring with our certificate, you can upgrade it.
What happens to my original diamond?◆
It comes back to you. Keep your original centre diamond loose, or let us set it into a 10K gold pendant at no charge — your first stone becomes a keepsake. We reclaim and recast only the original setting in our Toronto workshop.
Is this different from the warranty?◆
Yes. The lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects (prong tightening, stone resetting). The Free Upgrade program is a separate, voluntary promise — use it whenever you want a different ring, for any reason.
